Even with being on a social media hiatus this year, I’ve caught wind of the revival at Asbury University. As usual, the Interweb is ablaze with hot takes. And even more typical is that in all the hot takes, no one really knows what they are talking about — myself included.
What I do know is that for two weeks, students at Asbury — and now many others — have been in a relatively continuous worship gathering which started during chapel. Maybe, like me, you’re cynical by nature. Or, perhaps you’re a better breed of person than me, and are positive by way of your natural disposition. Either way, neither the cynics when it comes to Asbury or the positivity lions know what’s going on.
We don’t know whether the revival is “real” or “social contagion” or something else. What’s more, most of us don’t need to know. Most folks are living our lives and faith, as best we can, far away from Kentucky.
