It’s been 41 years since the last thorough, credible biography was Martin Luther King, Jr. was written. At least that was true until the recent publication of Jonathan Eig’s King: A Life. Having recently finished reading the biography, I can easily say it is as profound, comprehensive, and detailed as any biography could get. If you read it — and you should — you will discover a more radical and nuanced King than most people know. That’s why White Christian Nationalists and others intent on replacing America’s actual history with white, Christian hagiography should want the existing black history curriculum taught in American schools.
