How One Film Reveals Systemic Racism While Practicing It
If you’ve ever wondered what POC mean when we talk a bout “systemic racism",” go see Martin Scorcese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. In short, systemic racism is racially discriminatory practices which result in the marginalization, exclusion, or unfair treatment of POC and produces unfair advantages for the racially dominant culture. It’s when a web of thoughts, behaviors, and notions exist across a culture and disadvantages racial minorities in that culture. Many folks don’t see or believe in systemic racism because the narrowness of their experiences simply don’t give them access to the whole lives of POC.
There are, at least, two kinds of systemic racism.
